Physiological Quality of Soybean Seeds as a Function of Soil Management Systems and Pre-Harvest Desiccation

Soil management systems directly interfere in the soil–plant relationship. However, there are still few studies evaluating influence of long-term on physiological quality soybean seeds. Another little-known topic is pre-harvest desiccation seeds, especially seed longevity. Thus, aim this research was to evaluate seeds cultivated under conventional tillage and no-tillage with without desiccant use. The experiment carried out design a split plot randomized complete block design. treatments consisted soil (conventional no-tillage), desiccation. In treatment desiccation, herbicide Paraquat applied, when plants were at R7.3 phenological stage (most had yellowish coat, shiny surface already detached from pod). Seed germination, vigor (first germination count, seedling dry mass, length, time reach 50% (T50), emergence speed index) longevity (P50) evaluated. Seeds showed greater for most traits evaluated, values T50 length higher by 24.39% 24.77%, respectively, compared NT. addition, non-desiccation increased 15.45% 21.59%, respectively. use aiming dependent system.
